    Hi
I would like more information about the subscription.
If I pay the €15 is that expired in year time or will be like rolling contracts, charge me every year????
Is the app only for UK products? Is that will be working abroad?
    Thank you.

Glad to see the product I use on your list. Although the dispenser is plastic on fussy it’s reusable, I’ve had mine for 2-3 years but the refill materials are all compostable.
I love this app it’s so good to be informed then I’m able to make better choices for myself and the environment.

Thanks for the list. With 1 in 2 people getting breast cancer in UK, this list is invaluable guide to navigating and avoiding the toxic ingredients in deodorants. Yuka is such an invaluable tool to help mitigate toxic ingredients in hygiene, beauty, food and drinks products, which are killing humans all over the world without consequences! Please expand the range of good covered by Yuka to include animal products for dogs and cats. Yuka has made me more aware of carcinogenic ingredients & PFAS in almost everything, which politicians are clearly ignoring, at the cost of the nation’s health!

My local health shop recommended Dutch brand Nuud, it’s scent free, in cream form, (need only a tiny amount), only need to use a couple of times a week after initial 2 weeks, no chemical nasties, vegan AND comes in tube made from sugar cane! I never smell EVER anymore, even after gym sessions. Whole family using now.

Thanks for the heads up on deodorants. I was already avoiding nasty ingredients but some brands have hidden ones… now with your app it’s even easier to see everything. What really upset me is to see solid deodorants in plastic dispenser which they could be avoided easily. I disagree also with some brands that use aluminium dispensers (such as wild) because you are forced to use their brand and the dispenser is costs effective and not sustainable because it takes energy to produce those aluminium containers. I recently bought a solid body butter made of cardboard cylinder that could be easily used for deodorants…
I know that Yuka 🥕 checks for ingredients but holistically we should choose also the most sustainable solutions and ban plastic completely.

    1. Caroline

Hi Barbara, are you aware that the Wild deodorant comes in cardboard and you only buy the outer metal holder once. The actual refills are cardboard. Hope that helps & sorry if you were already aware of this.

Ingredient safety is our focus, but we agree that eco-friendly packaging is essential for a truly holistic choice.

I have had excema all my life and now for the first time I have something that actually makes a massive difference. I can see for the first time the chemicals and harmful substances in so many products. With the Yuka app I am now able to make safe choices. I will always have Excema but my skin is now the best it’s ever been. I am no longer at the mercy of the most recent ‘discovery’ usually expensive, cream, potion, lotion that boasts to be a game changer. In the past in desparation I have had to buy them. My bathroom cupboards are full of these. Now all in the bin……wonderful.

At this time we don’t consider this in the rating, but we can look into this for a future version of the app. In the meantime, you can look for the Leaping Bunny logo that ensures that no animal testing is done at any stage of the product’s development or PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies logo that ensures that brands do not conduct, commission, or pay for any animal testing

Not to be confused with Crystal deodorant brand, wich is a cream.

With products that serve a function, I think there should be some way of assessing and scoring how effective each item is as well as how risk free the item is. At the end of the day, we are all buying these products for a reason so, whilst the impact to your body is important, there is little point in making the purchase if it doesn’t achieve the expected outcome, in this case minimising bad odour.

You have not highlighted the fact that all of your products have been tested on animals- involving injecting each product in to rabbits and dogs, and rubbing the chemicals in to the eyes and body.

At first it seems strange putting cream underneath your arms but it does become addictive and after a while feels more natural to be doing so. Of course it is also nice to know that what is being absorbed into your skin is safe and beneficial.

I’m liking AKT at the moment. I queried an ingredient flagged by Yuka with AKT. Here’s the reply:
“Zinc oxide which is Anti-microbial and prevents against infection is not to be confused with Nano Zinc oxide which Yuka have and as stated if inhaled could be a concern”.

If your goal is to avoid harmful ingredients, I think we need look further than our own skin to define harmful. Plastic packaging is harmful. I would prefer to see a list that doesn’t include any deodorants that come in single use plastic or high emissions packaging. The list should also not include ingredients that cause environmental destruction and harm such as palm oil. Only refillable or cardboard packaging or solid palm oil free deodorants are ethical. That leaves Fussy and solid deodorants from Lush as far as I know. I would love to see a longer list.

I use salt of the earth deodorant. I’d be interested to know how that shows up in rankings.

It’s not good as it has potassium alum, which can be toxic used daily over long periods of time

I have used Dr Organic and Wild and I smelt of sweat with both even after waiting two weeks for my body to get used to it. I find applying neat cider vinegar just as effective as these two and a fraction of the price. I now use Sanex Invisible and it did take a couple of weeks before my body adjusted but now I don’t smell at all.

Sorry just realised that posted a reply to your salt of the earth by mistake. I used to use that one until I Yuka scanned it No wonder it was so good lol

Hiya, good choices but Holland and Barrett do an all natural no aluminium or baking soda deodorant which lasts for over a year

I’ve been using this brand for awhile as well! The spray or the salt stick and I love it

I’d love to know how it scores

I use fussy and it actually stops you from smelling. I’ve used several others before fussy and found with all of them I still smell.
